A Trickle of Time

Some poems from my personal collection. All poems copyright 1996-2001 eric r. miller

EUROPE ON TRAIN

train leaving a
sleepy station
sleepy lips art
form landscape
background kissed
gently softly,
in a bustle
of before another
time shyer
time a life
waiting, lingering
in every other
half aged
building the butter
of laughter, the
tickles of a
different tongue
a language fluent
in fireworks and
forgiveness,
kisses in the
eyes of others
in the gems and
genesis of rain drops
anxious and unexplained
a hop scotch heart a stop watch
start, can't I ever
find a word
that
makes love to
the mind like
the trees to
the sky the
sun to death's
beauty
the misty
remnants of a
soul somehow
trapped and
peacefully desperate
capturing God
and love in
the
stew soft
stumbling of
a train's
bride's gown woosh.

BOOKS

the
rusted golden
lust of thumb
tattered pages
is a nectar
housing souls
of yesterday
and eternal thought
a rainbow
bending upside down
the electric prowel
of delight a musky
dawning musty marvel
perfumes from paperbacks
and the history
a coffee stain from combat
or a lovers note in lost lines
chapter three a left
at page 100;

the plotlines and picturebooks
a swaddling of desire
and discovery,
the nursing bossom
of silence
and secrets dressed
in binding black
and periods...

UNDESCRIBABLE;
PASSION SCRIBBLES

the night
draws slowly
nearer, lustful
whispers of
remorseful
fears, the
flight
to the unfathomable
dismiss of
fortune dismiss
my torture
to the kingly
robes of
mauve and
melancholy,
dripping like
the longing on
the tip of my
tongue (the bottom
of my heart)
to hold her,
love her
listen in silence
in secret in
destiny
a desirous breath
between us dancing
daft and hungry
towards lust and love
and life,
about the chilled
air gnawing at the
window, clawing
like tears on
chiseled cheeks
to free the pit
from the peach
the man from
mortal,
flesh forgets
a moment.

ONLINE

seduced by static
dancing light
and typed topography,
trapped, gnawing
through the bone
of fiction, marrow
melts like candy
and cataracts.

Train

slumbering
slug of mortal's
metal screeching
in giddy absent
fashion the
gallant grudge
of hours sour
digesting minds
and hearts
in hollow.

NEW FOUND BLASPHEMY

shards of glass
the inward looking
eye the soul
that struggles with
yesterdays, and
lemon lips with
burning kisses
the shatter silence
of simple wishes
gone to sudden
sexual symptoms
the tempter
lurks 'measure for
measure' in music
the tonic rub for
mental indigestion
and how chocolate
smiles
in wandering
hands anxious
for ambrosia
in sleep,
(the dreams that
limp and linger
scrambling for cigarette
butts (possibly) impressions
smoked by God,
Jesus enjoyed the
menthol of humanity).

Haiku

Passion composes
itself in a manner of
softness and silence.

Accents shot by eyes
supporting tugs and tickles
my heartstrings dancing.

FALSE

My thoughts
a moth of
desperation
find salvation
in the flicker
of a rogue flame
spitting between
deception,
the immortal logs
never consumed
the silent fuel
a mask maker,
painting my cold
question face
a prostitute of
delight.

ONLY CHILD

The future runs
in tie-dye
and stinky diapers
the past smoking
a cigarette
desiring a second
chance.

#50

Trite like
balancing crackers
on nipples
and champagne
on an empty
stomach;
oversexed mind.

UNT. 7-25-00

I saw
a tree shedding
sparrows (teasing
a heart of memories
with quiet pleasure)
harboring life
and silence and
desire and completion
among branches
[homes, playthings,
friends and death]
reborn time after
time since breath
begot me.

STEAM WHISTLE

at the dimple
of dusk
every day
that my breath
hovers in the
breeze, my heart
learns a new tune
in the mournful
freedom of
a whistle
writing laments
across the lake,
a deep sigh
that makes
the stolen sunlight
lingering in the
clouds
seem too precious
to my silent heart;
my ears and soul
devour the dying of
another day and
feast upon it's promise of
patient rebirth, reverberated
among the darkening
hills.
